Established in 1912 as the most time-honored commercial bank in China, Bank of China (“BOC” or “the Bank”) is also the most internationalized and diversified bank in China with branches and institutions located in 64 countries and regions all over the world. Established upon the approval of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of China in 2006, the BOC Postdoctoral Research Center (“the Center”) can recruit postdoctoral researchers on its own or in cooperation with other research institutions.
It hereby recruits postdoctoral fellows graduating with a Ph.D degree in 2024 from Chinese institutions or foreign institutions. Related matters are hereby announced as below:
I. Applicant Eligibility
1. Be law-abiding, excellent in character qualities and academic achievements, in good health, and free of violation of laws or other bad records;
2. Fresh postdoctoral graduates not older than 35 years old (domestic applicants should graduate over the period of January-July 2024 and international applicant should graduate over the period of July 2023 to July 2024);
3. Major in economics, finance, law, sociology, mathematics, statistics, and computer science, among other related disciplines;
4. Have a good command of expertise and research methodologies in the fields of macroeconomics, international finance, regional economy, banking, legal compliance, financial risks, pension finance, data governance, ESG, etc. as an excellent researcher fluent in English.
II. Research Topics Available for Selection
1.The development trends of global industrial division of labor and economic integration.
2.New trends in global cross-border investment and renovation of international industrial supply chains.
3.Research on the evolution of global monetary policy cycles and the effect of balance sheet reduction by central banks in developed economies.
4.Research on the recent trends in offshore US dollar market.
5.Research on the transformation of local government financing model.
6.Construction of urban metropolitan areas and new drivers for China’s economic growth .
7.Research on the optimization of financial structure under the background of the new dual-circulation development pattern.
8.Research on Silver Economy and the development of pension plans.
9.Research on the sustainable development of banks’ inclusive finance.
10.Research on the transformation and development of Bank’s ESG.
11.European and American financial law system.
12.Regulations of international financial sanctions.
13.Construction of overseas compliance systems for Chinese financial institutions.
14.Technology empowerment in anti-money laundering control.
15.Research on domestic and international trends of financial regulation and supervision.
16.Data governance and digital risk management.
17.Research on financial risk measurement.
18. Research on major unexpected risk events of international financial institutions.

(Applicants are requested to choose one of the aforesaid research topics to write down their research avenue and plan in 3,000-5,000 words.)
III. How to Apply
Applicants need to fill in the online application form and provide the following materials by visiting the BOC postdoctoral recruitment webpage (URL: https://campus.chinahr.com/xiaozhao/bocpostphd2024/index.html) before December 15, 2023.
(1) Application Form (template is attached);
(2) Scanned copies of two letters of recommendation from advisors or other researchers who know the applicant well (template attached);
(3) Scanned copies of doctorate degree certificate and diploma or scanned copies of documents issued by the accredited universities to prove that related applicants can obtain the doctorate degree before the beginning date of postdoctoral fellowships. For applicants who have obtained their doctorate degree abroad, the certificate of recognition of foreign academic degree issued by the Ministry of Education is required, too.
(4) Electronic copy of the doctoral dissertation (final version or first draft);
(5) Scanned copies of two published academic research papers;
(6) Scanned copy of ID card (passport).
Information about applicants is kept strictly confidential. No submitted materials will be returned.
As per the principle of “open competition, strict examination, and merit-based selection”, the Center will recruit postdoctoral fellows in a transparent, fair, and just manner. The recruitment process consists of resume screening, written test, and in-person interview. The specific time for written test and interview will be further notified.
Applicants should be responsible for the truthfulness and completeness of the information they fill in. Once found to provide information inconsistent with the facts, the applicants concerned shall be disqualified by the Center.
